Missions and Community Service

River of Life Mission

Mililani Presbyterian Church members, its parishioners and friends volunteer to participate in this bi-monthly community service, roughly 5 outings yearly, to provide packaged meals to the houseless and other impoverished people from around several Honolulu districts. The service is coordinated by the River of Life (RoL) Mission, Honolulu’s faith-based inner-city organization. Volunteers, as young as 16 years of age are encouraged to prepare and package meals at the RoL’s downtown Honolulu facility or to help distribute the packaged meals at Thomas Square Park.

Car-pools depart from the church parking lot at 3:00 pm bound for the River of Life Mission facility to package the meals, while other volunteers are asked to meet at a specified location to distribute meals. Return to Mililani should be no later than 7 pm.

Kipapa School Connection

Each summer we collect school supplies for the students of nearby Kipapa Elementary School. With adequate provisions, teachers are enabled to sufficiently and productively achieve stated objectives that satisfy students’ academic needs. Cash donations to the school may help to defray the cost of field trips for the students of Kipapa Elementary School.

Food Distribution        

Mililani Presbyterian Church members, and parishioners alike support its surrounding community with bi-monthly drive-thru distributions of both perishable and non-perishable items. MPC coordinates receipt of canned and packaged food products from the Hawaii Food Bank and works in amicable partnership with members of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Wahiawa during specified dates of distribution.
